Educational Assessments

Think Clinical Psychologists provides psychometric and educational assessments for children and adolescents. These assessments provide information about:

  • How a child learns
  • A child’s cognitive strengths
  • Factors that could be interfering with a child’s ability to learn

Why Would I Get An Educational Assessment?

Psychometric and educational assessments are helpful when:

  • Your child is struggling academically or isn’t performing to the best of their ability
  • You have concerns about your child’s concentration and attention
  • You suspect your child may be gifted
  • Your child is exhibiting behavioural problems at school
  • You have concerns about whether or not your child is ready for Kindergarten
  • You would like a cognitive report for a selective schools application
  • You are trying to secure your child additional support at school
  • An Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis is being considered

What Does An Educational Assessment Involve?

The testing process occurs in four stages:

  1. We meet with you to identify your areas of concern
  2. Your child undertakes testing using standardised and internationally recognised measures
  3. You attend a feedback session where we explain the assessment results and answer any questions you may have. At this session we also go through the treatment recommendations we’ve developed based on the results of testing
  4. We provide you with a detailed report summarising assessment results and our treatment recommendations

We’re also able to provide ongoing support and liaise with your child’s school if you would like us to do so.
